Storyline

The year is 872, and all of what is now England’s different kingdoms have succumbed to invading Danes, leaving only King Alfred’s powerful kingdom of Wessex standing alone and defiant. Uhtred, our hero, lives in this tumultuous environment. After being born the son of a Saxon lord, he is taken by the Danes and raised as one of their own. His allegiances are pushed to the ultimate test when he is forced to choose between his birth country and the people he grew up with. What is he, exactly? Is it Dane or Saxon? Uhtred, on a journey to restore his inheritance, must traverse a treacherous path between the two sides if he is to play a part in the formation of the new kingdom.
